diy beauty recipe: the universal summer lip tint
There’s something timeless about a soft, bitten-lip flush. It gives you that “just had a cherry popsicle” glow that feels playful, sensual, and clean. This DIY tint is completely buildable, doubles as a cream blush, and is made from nourishing, skin-loving ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen or vanity drawer.
diy supplies:
Beetroot Powder or Hibiscus Powder: for natural pink/red pigment
Shea Butter or Mango Butter: softens skin, adds spreadability
Vitamin E Oil: extends shelf life and adds antioxidant protection
Optional: 1 drop Rosehip Oil or a pinch of mica shimmer powder for subtle glow
A small balm pot or lip container
instructions:
Melt 1 tsp of shea or mango butter in a small glass bowl using a double boiler or microwave in 10-second increments until soft and stirrable (but not fully liquid).
Add 1/2 tsp beetroot or hibiscus powder and mix until the color is evenly distributed. Start with less and build up — this gives a rosy hue. Add more for a deeper berry tone.
Add 3–5 drops of vitamin E oil and, if desired, 1 drop rosehip oil or a pinch of mica shimmer.
Mix thoroughly and transfer to your balm pot. Let it set in the fridge for 10–15 minutes until firm.
how to use:
Dab onto lips using a clean fingertip. Start sheer and build.
Tap a little on the apples of your cheeks for a naturally flushed monochrome look.
Apply over balm for a blurred satin finish, or under gloss for shine.
muse tips:
Store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks for freshness.
Want a cooler tone? Use hibiscus. For warmer coral? Add turmeric or pomegranate powder.
Layer it under a hydrating balm or lip oil (like Summer Fridays Lip Butter) for dimension.
This is your summer swipe-and-go essential — and the beauty recipe your friends will want.
